Craskie Old Mill Cottage
Craskie Estate Ltd, Craskie, Glencannich, Cannich, Beauly, Inverness-shire, IV4 7LX
Glen Cannich is the ideal destination for those who want to get away from it all and relax in a true highland wilderness. This spectacular glen is often overlooked for its better known neighbour Glen Affric making it a more peaceful location to visit. The Old Mill is located within the beautiful 155 acre Craskie Estate boasting a private loch and stretch of river, native birch and caledonian woodland and heather moorland.
The cottage once housed the mill worker and has been sympathetically renovated with modern amenities. Its sits adjacent to the owner's house with a secure, private garden and views over Loch Craskie. The accommodation sleeps 3+1 in a double room, single room and a sofa bed.
The stunning, double height living area features original metal wall ties perfect for drying your walking gear in front of the wood burning stove. There is a TV/DVD player (no signal), unlimited wifi for streaming and a selection of DVD's. The newly fitted kitchen has a breakfast table and views over the loch. A luxury bathroom has been fitted with a shower over a full-sized bath. 100% cotton bed linen and towels are provided.
Water for the Old Mill comes from a borehole supply which is mineral-rich and avoids the brown, peaty water often seen in the highlands without compromising on taste.
The estate has an abundance of wildlife including otters, badgers, pine martins and golden eagles. Red deer come down to the loch most days and the annual rut takes place the other side of the garden fence.
The loch and river contain wild, brown trout and pike and fishing permits are available. Dogs are welcome by arrangement.
